It's wonderful you were able to reconnect with grandma! I love being able to explore our hometown to find a new appreciation for what we have. Thanks for sharing.
Ohh this one hit close to home! Having family abroad, I absolutely know the struggle. At the same time, quality time is REALLY quality time, usually for days or weeks on end! In 2021 our whole family (15 people, from the youngest babies to 80+ y/o grandparents) came to visit and we did the most cliché touristy things. I loved seeing our country through their eyes 🥰 I had a new-found appreciation for the Zaanse Schans, Volendam and even parts of my own hometown! They would point out things that I had taken for granted all my life, it's the best 💙
So true !! Such special memories to create with your family ❤️ And I can’t remember the last time I visited de Zaanse Schans, guess I’ll need to bring the next visitor there to see it for myself again 👀
Museums in Amsterdam are amazing! Living abroad I started to realize how beautiful is the part of Italy where I am from since I started to show it to my foreign friends and my girlfriends, it's cool to be a tourist at home!
I completely agree! It’s so great to gain a new found appreciation for our home country and to see it through the eyes of someone visiting for the first time. Where in Italy are you from?
It's a great question. My family live in the countryside, and I spend most my time in Brazil in São Paulo, where I have friends and professional network. It's a great challenge to conciliate nomadism, travel, work, and family. I spent less days I would like with my nephew (5 days within 2 months), but If it wasn't for my family I would certainly spend a broad time away (3-4 months). Sometimes I feel like I am failing at all, but I do my best. I was proud when I heard from my dad "You will not have any regret in the future about me".
Totally agree! So special to revisit some local classic sights with grandma. 🥰
For sure 🥰

Thanks Daniel, love how it also resonated with you!

My hometown is Vicenza on the north east of Italy, not far from Venice.
A quick google search shows me that’s it’s indeed beautiful!
